Our client is an established provider of sophisticated 3D animation and motion capture software solutions. Organic search via Google drives over 75% of their website's traffic. Therefore, maintaining this surge of traffic from Google’s search engine results pages (SERPs) is critically important.
The client encountered significant technical difficulties when Google's crawlers were unable to effectively render their JavaScript-intensive website. This rendering failure prompted Google to de-index the majority of the website’s URLs, severely restricting their online visibility and search presence. Consequently, only the homepage and a limited number of core navigation pages remained accessible through organic search.
This led to an immediate and significant decline in organic traffic, negatively impacting lead and overall business performance.
Upon conducting a technical audit, we identified the core issue as improper JavaScript rendering configuration. The client’s website relied heavily on JavaScript to deliver engaging video content and interactive animations. Due to inadequate rendering settings, Google's crawlers repeatedly failed to access and interpret the site's content, resulting in incomplete indexing.
To rectify the JavaScript rendering issue, we implemented Pre-Render, a robust and free-to-use tool specifically designed to ensure seamless crawling and indexing by Google's search bots.
Steps taken:
- Coordinating closely with the client's web development team to effectively implement Pre-render using a detailed four-step configuration guide.
- Ensuring URLs were fully rendered and accessible to Google's crawlers, thereby facilitating comprehensive indexing.
- Conducting rigorous daily indexing audits over one week, systematically verifying the successful re-indexing of previously de-indexed URLs.
- Proactively identifying URLs that encountered indexing delays, applying multiple indexing requests to expedite their reintegration into Google's index.
The timely and accurate resolution of indexing challenges was critical, as each day of delayed indexing resulted in a loss of 100-130 organic clicks per day.
Within just 10 days of implementing the Pre-render solution:
- All previously de-indexed webpages were successfully restored and indexed by Google.
- Organic traffic not only recovered but also increased by 17% over the subsequent four months.
- Webpages regained their original keyword rankings, and the site began to appear prominently for additional long-tail search queries, enhancing visibility and engagement.
